We had a very unique, memorable, adventurous spring break this year. This was because it was very unplanned and spontaneous. We did our usual of Mario picking a spot with a national park, buying plane tickets, then me reserving a cabin nearby and securing our rental car. That's really all we did to prepare. Well, we got there and found out that the national park that we had planned our entire vacation around was actually closed that time of year--because of how much snow (11ft) there still is there in April. No worries, we still tried to get in. We needed a Hummer and we had rented a Hyundai. We may or may not have damaged our rental car trying to get up a rocky, muddy, dirt road. Mario at some point called it quits, we turned around and went and ate food and watched a movie in our cabin. The next day, I woke up assuming that we'd head to the city but Mario discovered that if we snow shoed in, we could still enter the park. We discovered snow shoes in the garage of the cabin and we hopped in the car, took a different road to the park, hiked into it a few miles, and had a grand ol time seeing about 5% of it on our journey. But this was satisfactory for all of us and we were really happy it all worked out. I was fighting the idea because I really didn't want to get stuck in the storm in a car that didn't work. (I was expecting things to go wrong after what we put it through). But, --no regrets. Mario told me to chill and just enjoy our vacation.
We experience all types of weather in the 5 days of being in CA. The beach was beautiful, cold enough to wear jackets but very comfortable if you had one on.
We also did another escape room. California apparently is much more advanced with those than Utah. It was so detailed, so authentic and so fun! We were also in there with a group of teenage girls and since it was a haunted house theme, there were a few screams I wasn't ready for that gave me a heart attack.
The rest of the vacation was spent playing games, eating approximately every 2 hours, (our main food themes of the trip were cheesecake and the best donuts ever in Sacramento). I LOVE family vacations!
